47% of Novato 11th graders reported in 2013 that alcohol is “very easy” to get, while only 39% say the same of cigarettes. (Source: CHKS 2013)
Only 20% of Novato 11th graders have smoked a whole cigarette (one or more times), while 58% have consumed a whole alcoholic beverage at least once in their lifetime and 37% report having been “very drunk or sick after drinking alcohol” at least once. (Source: CHKS 2013)
We know it can be difficult to talk to young people about alcohol use. The Coalition exists not only to promote healthy behaviors within the community, but also as a support system for concerned parents and adults.
